She’s a tiny thing but has lots of presence. Just ten inches tall, this early “little girl” rag doll is made of unbleached muslin and has a body that’s stuffed with bran. Her limbs are not jointed, and she has mitten-style hands with fingers indicated by pink embroidery thread. I love her delicate painted features and tuft of real hair that curls over her forehead. She has painted hair under the hand-made cloth bonnet that’s trimmed with a gingham streamer. As for her clothing, she wears her original dress (no undergarments), which is made from a blue and white cotton lawn print with hearts and arrows. The dress is hand- and treadle-sewn. Very good condition. Fourth quarter 1800s.
